No. That cable will only work with some non-standard hdmi outputs that also have a VGA signal on them.

You need an active converter with some electronics inside that can convert the digital HDMI signal into an analogue VGA signal. They used to be expensive, but you can pick them up fairly cheaply now.

I have an HMDI to VGA converter that works with my B+ but not with my Pi2. I bought another one that doesn't work with any of my Pis. What are some good, not too expensive, converters that work?

I used piview and it works with wheezy and Jessie on pi 2 but it's not cheap enough for me.

You're not kidding. £22 is way over priced.
