web based gui crontab editor for raspbian?

Mon Oct 05, 2015 11:51 am

Hello,

Is there any web based gui crontab editor for raspbian?

So we can design the cron in the gui and save and it is being installed on actual crontab?

Thanks,
Simon Mandy

You can use any editor you want for crontab. For immediate use, enter the command "export EDITOR=<full path to your editior of choice>", e.g. "export EDITOR=/usr/bin/vi". To set the default editor permanently, add the command to the end of /etc/profile .

I have the following in my ~.bashrc

Code: Select all

# if running X, set the default editor to Geany
if [ "$DISPLAY" != "" ]
then
  EDITOR="/usr/bin/geany"
  export EDITOR
fi
If I invoke "crontab -e" from a terminal session on the desktop it uses Geany as the editor. If I do it from a text console it uses teh default editor (vi in my case).

I think i did not write enough in my first post.

What i am looking for is, a tool where we can enter the time/interval/schedule in a simple way and the tool set it to crontab.

I think any front-end to crontab will either have limited functionality or will end up horrendously complicated.

Basic crontab entries are not that hard to follow.
