Hi all,

kusti8 maybe I am "one of the 8 missing types of person from your footer" ;) or we have some misunderstanding caused by my bad english!

It does work with hundreds of websites. That line is to pause the video, which it does not do for other sites, but since omxplayerGUI and youtube-dl handle it, it supports many websites.

OK I apologize, just saw your "onclick listener" calls the "omx_run" event for every click!

But if you asume that the user "knows what he is clicking" ( only on video links on websites that are supported by youtube-dl ), then my omx protocol changer solution will also work for all 600+ sites! The chrome-extension I wrote could simply replace all links inside the active tab and change the "protocol to omx".
After the click on the converted omx-link the href-value is passed to my shell-script that calls your "start_ytdl_server.sh" and "omxplayergui.py ytdl" afterwards.

I use the "watch?v=" criteria right now also to change the link color of the youtube links to red so you can see that the click on the extension worked / did something!

I will try to record a demonstration video tommorrow.

Hi, here is the short video ( a little late, but it was a busy day )

https://yadi.sk/i/dwDi5yuLz2e7C

works with the latest Chromium-Browser plus future releases, and can delegate all clicked links to e.g. youtube-dl/omxplayer.
Works on every website that uses normal "<a href="http://link-to-video-file>" syntax and is supported by youtube-dl.

If someone is interested in this solution at all... let me know. I am totaly happy with this, how could it be otherwise

Next project for the cold winter days ( if time allows it ), nice QT5 GUI for omxplayer or maybe a complete custom Video-Player using QT5 Media-Libs ( educational purposes ), looks like that there are custom build Raspberry Pi QT5 libraries with RPi Video-Hardware acceleration avaible.

Dear all,
I have the Raspberry pi 3, and Raspbian via NOOBS, latest update/upgrade January 2016.
"Chromium 51.0.2704.91 Built on Ubuntu 14.04, running on Raspbian 8.0" installed.

I Have added the "rpi-youtube" utility following this guide:
http://kusti8.me/RPi-chromium/
then "run_omxplayer.py" twice...

After, I added the rpi-youtube extension in chromium.

The issue is that, in www.youtube.com I start to play a video,
but NO POP-UP or prompt for request to play video with Omxplayer come out!

NOTE:POP UP allowed for www.youtube.com and Ublock Origin stopped.
What I can check??

Re: Guide: Chromium 51 on Raspbian Jessie

Hello,

Maybe off topic. My system is Rpi3 Jessie 8.0 (pixel).
I am "now" having problem with chromium when using skype to call (web.skype.com).
Previously, the other end can hear and see my usb camera (with built-in mic).
But now for whatever reason, it crashes.
Previously (when it was still ok),when you start a call, the camera would show and the other end would receive my call. But now when you start a call, my usb camera view would not show anymore and chromium would crash and exit.
I dont know correctly what I have installed or did, maybe it was the quicktime (to view my IPCAM but after install wasnt able to do anyway) or when I modify my alsa setting for espeak.
Anyway, what I plan to do is remove and re-install chromium.

How to remove? Is it like this?

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get --remove purge chrom*
And how to install again?

Anyway, the camera is still viewable by motion by other's (PC) browser.

Thanks!

To reinstall fully :
sudo apt-get purge chromium-browser
sudo apt-get install chromium-browser

What is the output if you run Chromium in the terminal and the issue occurs? What version are you using?

I was under the impression this whole thread refered to the pre Raspbian Jessie Pixel Chromium and therefore now redundant !!!!!

Does not work, it says "no valid openPGP data found"

Any solutions for this?

Therefore you have not fully updated Raspbian Jessie with Pixel... chromium-browser is now v54 !

I've got an issue on Ubuntu MATE. I've installed Chromium, grabbed the github repo and run install.sh, installed the plugin for Chromium. When I hit the plugin button, omxplayer opens for a split second and then closes. Any ideas?

I no longer support rpi-youtube and it doesn't work anymore. Gkreidl provides an alternative that should come up in searches.

Will rpi-youtube work with raspbian stretch? (chromium-browser 60.0.3112.89-0ubuntu0.14.04.1.1010)

BTW, I am also looking for chromium (60.0...) with Widevine Support... Any idea?

Thanks!
