It seems that I didn´t install chromium-browser. But when I tried to fix it by ¨apt-get install chromium-browser¨, it also failed.

FoTL posted a link on how to do it. I've been short on time recently so I haven't gotten a chance to do it yet, I'm hoping I have enough time today.

If I do find that hardware acceleration makes a difference, it would not be included in the packages, but simply an optional step after.

OK. I've investigated a little, and I can say that there is no hardware acceleration, confirming my suspicions. The older Chromium on Wheezy probably also didn't have hardware acceleration, its software. Even without hardware acceleration, Chromium runs fine, though.

No, believe me, the old Chromium in Wheezy has hardware acceleration everywhere. I just tried it a few days ago on a Raspberry Pi 2. It is not just some lines of text in flags:gpu tab - you can feel the speed. Super smooth scrolling everywhere; compared to this current build it was like night and day. I mean, why would I lie? You can test it yourself at any time. Install the current Wheezy and Chromium, and you will see that it is at lightning speed. Desktop performance, only when there is a lot of pictures you will see some slowdown. And it crashes a lot.

We are discussing Chromium Web Browser not Operating Systems

..in Raspbian Wheezy (for all RPi models) it is WebKit based version 22 which is available from the Repositories

..in Raspbian Jessie (only RPi 2B ARMv7) it is Blink based version 45 which needs to be manually installed as of the date of this post

Natively Abode Flash is not supported in any browser available in any Linux Distro suitable for the RPi

Though at present the Blink Engine version of Chromium requires the ARMv7 architecture of the RPi 2B

There is a build for Raspbian Wheezy somewhere out there if this version 45 causes issues, but this post is actually about version 45 in Raspbian Jessie

I copied the 'SELECT ALL' content into terminal window and after a few downloads from your dropbox links the package install completed. I found the cursor hanging on the end of a line at one point and after hitting 'Return' the process continued fine. I am now using Chrome, which after logging in copied all my bookmarks over.

Well, because I really have nothing to do today, I'm trying it again, this time compiling it on Ubuntu Linaro directly on the Pi instead of cross compiling. Fingers crossed.

I've had it compiling for 48 hours, but it seems to have crashed under the load. I'll make some adjustments and try again, but it may be a few days until it finishes.

Yeah, I recall from Ubuntu's launchpad that [armhf build][https://launchpadlibrarian.net/21920828 ... ING.txt.gz] takes them around 10h (I'm not sure what hardware do they use), still doing that on Raspberry Pi is "more demanding".
Let me know of the outcome, even if it fails I would like to take a look at the build steps necessary.
