minecraft on RasPi2

Thu Sep 10, 2015 5:59 am

I know Raspian comes with Minecrat Pi Edition, but can it run the full PC version? With it being Java I'm assuming it's at least theoretically possible but has anyone tried and succeeded? I'm looking at replacing the clinker computer my kids broke with a Pi2 but being limited to Pi edition Mine craft would be a deal breaker for them.

Some folks have run a MC server. You can't run the MC client, it barfs when the JNI (Java native interface) code runs as there's no version of that stuff available for a RPi.

It can be made to run currently, but the performance is not good. You can have a look on this thread:

It will be interesting to see what the OpenGL driver performance ends up to be when it matures and gets optimized.
