openelec on raspbian ??

Sat Jul 21, 2012 9:53 am

Is there a version of openelec that will work on the new raspbian package, especially a version that will enable my wifi to work with openelec. I currently have wifi working perfectly on my copy of raspbian.
Cheers

I found OpenELEC was more responsive to the keyboard and mouse than Raspbian however when both are playing videos there wasn't much difference.
I didn't compile OpenELEC myself I used the 1GB image file from the following page - http://sparky0815.de/openelec-download- ... fat-files/

it worked fine on wheezy but I get an error on raspbian saying it is incompatible with armel, the error gives something like not working with armel, uses armfp (or something similar). I would really like to get this working. I am new to linux and finding that there is a road block at every new corner I turn!!!

Any particular reason you prefer using openElec's version ?
You can use XBMC directly on Raspbian.
You'll find instruction to build it yourself or precompiled binaries there :

Did you do a...

sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture openelec_0.1_armel.deb

?

This isn't stable enough for me I tried to play some youtube videos but it flashes green.
When I attempt to play mp3s from a shoutcast server the my video output goes nuts.
Maybe this build only works with HDMI it cetainly using stable for composite video use.

You probably need to update the version of openelec in it. The packaged version is quite old.

Sounds like you have hdmi audio enabled when using composite. Make sure analogue audio is enabled.
