Sense HAT

Hello,

I purchased a Sense HAT from CPC Farnell in the UK and it works fine, but I have noticed that the 'Assembling the Sense HAT' page on the Raspberry Pi Foundation website mentions the following should be included:

1 x GPIO pin extension header
4 x Hexagon stand-offs (female-to-female)
8 x M2.5 screws

Mine did not come with these parts. Should I contact CPC Farnell or has the specification changed?

The spacers only come with the kit from the Raspberry Pi Swag Store. Not in the farnell kit

That is a bit of a pain. Is this mentioned anywhere and can you buy the extra bits separately?

It was mentioned on the blog post that announced the release of the Sense Hat. The parts aren't anything special so should be widely available.

What a pity there is no mention of it on the product information page where you are encouraged to use one of the distributors and are disadvantaged as a result.

*To mount the Sense HAT securely it is advisable to use a set of standoffs and mounting screws.

Says nothing about the kit coming with them.

The Sense HAT comes in a silver anti-static bag, along with the following fixtures and fittings:

1 x GPIO pin extension header
4 x Hexagon stand-offs (female-to-female)
8 x M2.5 screws
Check that these are all present before proceeding.


Says nothing about 'please ignore if you buy from Farnell or RS'

Those are the instructions not a list of what each individual supplier chooses to provide.
You don't need the parts they are just useful.

I think we need to agree to disagree. They need to make it clear and change the instructions.

Mine came from the Swag store, but without a GPIO extension header. That would have been nice. Not strictly necessary. Just nice. And I don't need 12 screws. 8 will be fine.

I can't imagine being a happy camper without stand-offs though. Nobody likes their board flapping about. You really need *at least* 2 stand-offs and 4 screws. On every HAT.
