RPi 1 B+ and 2 B+ cases similar?

Sun Aug 16, 2015 7:56 am

Hello folks,

friend of mine have a 3D printer and can make me a RPi case from some free projects.

So my question is the RPi 1 B+ and RPi 2 B+ cases are the same ?

Whaat I see from the official site image - it's seems the same:

There is NOT a RPi model 2 B+

Though B+ & 2 B are the same except underneath where the 2 B components sit slightly lower....
The information is out there....you just have to let it in.

Not exactly true, 2 B have component on place where B+ doesnt and some case description use that place for additional support. To be on safe side use only mounting hole for mounting without additional support on PCB.

When I got my 2B I bought a case so I can stand it on edge (it runs 100% headless). When I replaced the 2B with my B+ I simply swapped the board in the case.

My case even has B+ engraved on it which bugged me when it contained a 2B.

The board layout (of sockets and connectors) and the mounting holes are 100% identical between a B+ and a 2B. The A+ is just a B+ with the unused 20mm of circuit board chopped off  . The mounting holes for the A+ are also identical to the B+ & 2B.

I believe if you make it fit a 2b then it will fit a b+, not necessarily the other way around

There's one of the commercial B+ cases that wouldn't fit the 2B because of the big 1GB RAM chip on the bottom of the board and they'd designed their case with tight tolerances.

The "official" Raspberry Pi foundation case will, of course, fit both a 2B & B+
