Making a Social Twitter Bot

Sun Jul 19, 2015 2:23 am

I am fascinated by some of the Twitter bots on Twitter and how realistic they can be. I would like to run a social Twitter bot on my Raspberry Pi that tweets like a human would.

I am a human (or so I'm told).

I don't tweet.

My Pi does not tweet.

Project complete -- Pi imitates human behaviour, and no-one can tell which of us didn't tweet.

That wasn't exactly what I meant. I want to run a twitter bot on my pi that is similar to a bot called @JamesMTitus bot.

rpiswag,

Do you ever finish one of these project ideas before coming back here and asking how to tackle the next one?

I'm sure google can tell you everything you need to know about automating tweets.

Making them intelligent is another matter.

I have made several twitter bots before but I want to make them better by making them human-like. I did finish my honeypot project and it was a enjoyable experience to work on! :D

If you get a Twitter Bot working are you going to turn off your RPi Bot?

No but I will eventually want to make the twitter bot better and improve on it.

@rpiswag,

Does your honeypot have an IP address I can reach? Let me at it.

As far as I can tell a twitter post created out of a random selection of words used in recent twitter posts mixed up with "wtf", "u" etc would be indistinguishable from a humans tweet.

I am currently using ssh to access my pi and the pi keeps going to sleep and then the honeypot stops. How do I stop this from happening?

For that matter, how do I know? I tried asking my Pi, but it didn't tweet.

1. Nothing to do with the thread

2. Again found by a simple Google.

OK back to the topic of making a social twitter bot. What should I do to get started? I used my weak google fu to the best I could but I can't seem to find a tutorial on how to make a human-like twitter bot. Please help!

I think you should start by making human-like forum posts.

You could start with A.L.I.C.E
http://www.alicebot.org/downloads/

Common with Eliza is that they are made to respond to human input not to produce output on their own.

Adding "alicebot" or "AIML" to your google searches will increase your "fu".
