power adapter question

Sat Jul 04, 2015 8:44 pm

Hello, a.bit new to the raspberry pi but I have two so far, one a set up as a web host and another I plan to turn into a vpn server. I was wondering about the dual usb chargers you can get from belkins. can I use the following to safely power both pis or will I see some instability trying to power more than one with this?

You would like to know a very specific product, only someone actually had one could give you a short answer. I have some suggestions:

1, What I did before is to try a few different brands, to find out my favourite. Yes, it costs some.

2, And be sure to buy a branded one, unbranded rubbish could cost you much time to finally find out "the well-known power supply problem", then because it's unbranded, you have no way to forbid that thing next time.

3, I would like to metion that, I have a charger with dual ports from my favourite supplier, however, those two ports do not have same power capability. One of them is able to supply 2.4A, another is only able to supply 1A. This infomation is wriiten on the product, which is one of the reasons I like this supplier. 1A is not that enough for a new Pi. (by new, I mean A+ / B+ / 2B).

4, If you are in China, try this supplier: http://greenconnection.tmall.com

The Anker Chargers have been recommended by several posters

You must check the specification of your Raspberry Pi and the adapter from the manual. If both matches then you can use without any problem. Otherwise you can search for other adapter which must be suitable for your device.
