My kickstarter project. is the pi a good fit?

this application needs some computing power.
I currently use Freescale i.MX6, how is the pi? I seriously consider two things:

1. broadcom is not doing well now. >>> they will threw away the product based on the product line performance, I didn't see too much industrial application using this chip.

2. the pi has a good number of users. >>> easy to find some codes as reference codes.

1. Broadcom is doing fine - what do you mean? The 2835 is still selling well, as is the 2836.

2. Yes the Pi has a lot of users, but you will still need a software engineer or two to make it all work.

You probably need the Compute module, should do what you want.

I think Broadcom is doing great! What do you mean?

I also think the RPi will be fine for what you're doing, but you may also want to take a look at the Intel Edison SoC and take a look at the Pyboard and micro python!

I am working on a project that will marry the Intel Edison SoC with the Pyboard; also have a version that will marry the Raspberry PI with the Pyboard.

The pyboard and micro python are *very* impressive... the cost of the board is still a tad high.

How is that different from the TellSpec scam*?

* My personal opinion, not fact. Please don't sue me, TellSpec people.

Edit: Hm, taking a closer look at the page, you don't seem to be making wacky claims like being able to determine the composition of food with it, so... fair enough.

Yeah, the jury is still out (so to speak) on near infra-red spectroscopy... there is something to it, but still way too expensive and way to inaccurate IMHO. It may be a scam, totally. Not much to go on so far... and most people can not get their hands on the 'stuff' to experiment.

I have been working on a gizmo similar to try and use light (near infra-red) to detect sugars in blood serum. I am a boarder line typeII diabetic of late, and I'm looking for a better way to monitor blood sugar/ this technology, if real, might prove to be the answer.
