I know the code for the pineapple is on github and I want to make a diy version of the wifi pineapple. I saw a hackaday post http://hackaday.com/2013/04/29/wifi-pin ... e-attacks/ where someone turned a TP-Link TL-wr703n mini router into a diy wifi pineapple running by getting it to run open wrt. I know it is possible to run open wrt on a pi but can I turn the pi into a wifi pineapple? I know the router is only $25 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/TP-Link-TL-WR703N ... 233&sr=1-4 but I want to make a pineapple clone even cheaper because I already have the materials to make it so I don't have to buy another piece of tech. I was also thinking about running fruity wifi on one of my model B+ and Kali Linux which I already have running on my pi 2.

I don't know. Try it, then tell us how you got on. Use Google. If you get stuck at particular points, post here what you want to achieve, what you tried, and what actually happened.

Thank you but before I do that I would like to know if I should buy the TP-LINK TL-WR702N for $18 or should I use my pi and run fruity wifi on it? I have an alpha networks awus036h usb wifi adapter but does fruity wifi support that model because it uses a realtek chip set and fruity wifi on there website says that fruity wifi supports realtek chip sets?

I think you should use your Pi and run fruity WiFi on it.

Why do you want to do this?

I have a TP-LINK TL-WR702N with OpenWRT running on it. Great little device. I use it to program Parallax Propeller chips remotely. Also works very well as a WIFI router.

Thank you for your help but can you post a link of supported wifi adapters that fruity wifi supports? Do yo think $18 or about 17 Euros is a good price for the TP-LINK TL-WR702N?

That at least has an issue tacking system you can post questions to. Which will annoy them as that is not what an issue system is for. But hey, if they have no other means of communication what can they expect?

I just pmed xtr4nge with some questions about Fruity Wifi. I think that person has the answers I am looking for.

I just replied to your PM. FruityWifi can be installed in a Raspberry Pi (or any other device/system) based on Debian like Raspbian. Also on Kali linux can be installed using apt-get as FruityWifi is now part of Kali repositories. With FruityWifi you will have what you are looking for (post topic).

You can use any wireless card supported by Hostapd (like Atheros chipsets) to get all the functionalities on FruityWifi. If the card is not supported (like Realtek chipsets) you can use the [AP] mode Airmon-ng but you will lose some functionalities like Karma and/or Mana.

What wifi adapter would you recommend that works with fruity wifi that is under $20. The wifi adapter would have to work with every module in fruity wifi. Preferably one I could buy from Amazon.com

I think you should buy an alpha networks awus036h.

The alpha networks awus036h wifi adapter don't support all the modules in fruity wifi and I am looking for a network card that does. A card that uses and atheros chipset is the one that I am looking for and the alpha networks awus036h wifi card does not it uses a realtek chipset.

Yes it does (kind of). Fruity Wifi will run in a Realtek chip set but not all of the modules work and fruity wifi can only work in ap mode. That is why I want to use a Atheros chip set because it can use all of the features that fruity wifi has to offer. Here is a quote from another post in this thread relating to what I just mentioned

Ok, well I think you should buy a wifi card with an Atheros chipset.

I don't know. I heard you can use any wireless card supported by Hostapd (like Atheros chipsets) to get all the functionalities on FruityWifi.

You could buy it and test it yourself, and report your findings to this group, and maybe the FruityWifi group. If no-one else has done it, or written about it then you will be the first and I am sure it will be appreciated (even if it doesn't work that's still good a good data point).
