Monitor HDMI Question

Sun Mar 22, 2015 2:29 pm

Hi I only have one PC monitor, is there a way to switch from PC to the PI without having to keep unplugging the HDMI lead from PC and swapping it to the PI?

Depends on your monitor. Does your computer and monitor also have VGA or Dvi inputs and outputs? If so you could connect your of via those and pi via HDMI then your monitor will either auto display whichever input is sending signal or you'll have to manually change it.

If not you could get some sort of HDMI splitter switch shindig. Something with two or more inputs and one output with the ability to select the input. Something like this: [url] http://www.amazon.com/Switch-Switcher-S ... B001UOEIZI[ /url]

You can find HDMI switchers made for media centers for $5-10 on eBay. They come with a remote control which you can use to switch the input. You will need two extra hdmi cables, if you need this approach.

Hi thanks for all the info, I will invest in one of them and then can just leave the PI swithced on and then switch the signal over as required :)
