SSH connection refused ?

Fri Jul 23, 2021 5:08 pm

I am trying to recover from lost IP (?)
I did
ifconfig
  • qe@qe-desktop:~$ ifconfig
    enp3s0: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500
    inet 10.0.1.143 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 10.0.1.255
    inet6 fe80::ac69:4602:623e:8c4f prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x20<link>
    ether d0:50:99:a4:fe:80 txqueuelen 1000 (Ethernet)
    RX packets 301811 bytes 317523806 (317.5 MB)
    RX errors 0 dropped 7 overruns 0 frame 0
    TX packets 210179 bytes 31495285 (31.4 MB)
    TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0

    lo: flags=73<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING> mtu 65536
    inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 255.0.0.0
    inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 scopeid 0x10<host>
    loop txqueuelen 1000 (Local Loopback)
    RX packets 1648 bytes 165370 (165.3 KB)
    RX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 frame 0
    TX packets 1648 bytes 165370 (165.3 KB)
    TX errors 0 dropped 0 overruns 0 carrier 0 collisions 0
Assuming RPi is 10.0.1.143 (? not sure ) I did
  • qe@qe-desktop:~$ ssh rpi@10.0.1.143
ssh: connect to host 10.0.1.143 port 22: Connection refused
then I did ping
  • PING 10.0.1.143 (10.0.1.143) 56(84) bytes of data.
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.143: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.046 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.143: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.051 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.143: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.057 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.143: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=0.053 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.143: icmp_seq=5 ttl=64 time=0.055 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.143: icmp_seq=6 ttl=64 time=0.051 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.143: icmp_seq=7 ttl=64 time=0.053 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.143: icmp_seq=8 ttl=64 time=0.059 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.143: icmp_seq=9 ttl=64 time=0.047 ms
    64 bytes from 10.0.1.143: icmp_seq=10 ttl=64 time=0.054 ms

    --- 10.0.1.143 ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 10 received, 0% packet loss, time 9200ms
    rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.046/0.052/0.059/0.003 ms
Am I barking at the wrong tree?

As far as I know , my RPi is SSh enabled , but I have not checked recently.
If I cannot get SSH to work I will have to
connect mouse , keyboard and monitor to RPi - not difficult but messy moving all that hardware from my PC.
Cheers

This is showing the IP address of the computer your are using. Not the Pi.

Can you connect to your Router/DHCP server and get a list of the addresses it has allocated? You might be able to find your Pi - if it is working - on there.
