Wireless Door Sensor for Raspberry Pi

Thu Jun 17, 2021 1:56 pm

Hi,

I have been looking around the forum but have not found any solution.

I want to build a surveillance system such that the Raspberry will take a picture when the door of my house is opened.
The problem is that the Raspberry with the camera and the door sensor cannot be connected by wire. So I am looking for a sensor that detects when the door opens and can be connected to the raspberry by wifi or bluetooth.
All the ones I have seen are either wired, or do not communicate with the rasperry, only with other apps like Smart Life for example.

I would be very grateful if someone can help me to find a wireless door sensor that communicates with the raspberry.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Use an esp8266 with WiFi (e.g. wemos D1 mini) that has GPIO to monitor the door and sends messages over WiFi to your pi (usually done by using mqtt on the d1 mini and pi)
