IT automation for pi

Sun May 09, 2021 6:50 am

Hello everybody.

Which automation software is the best for installation and configuration
the raspberry pi 0/3/4 ?

I think about typical tasks: system upgrade, configure wifi, add users etc.

Regards.

Advanced Options in the Raspberry Pi Imager can set up the hostname, wifi and pi user password.
It creates a shell script /boot/firstrun.sh which is run when the Pi boots up for the first time.

Presumably you could customise firstrun.sh to update and upgrade, install packages, add users, etc.
Take care that the script doesn't look for user input, such as apt update asking you to enter Y.

You don't give any assessment criteria for 'best', so that is unanswerable.

For any sensible advice, knowing what Operating System is running - or is to be run - on your RPi board will be essential.

Unless you are deploying on multiple pis, maybe learn how to do it yourself since it will heelp you with troubleshooting
Running with a Raspberry Pi 4B 4GB with Raspberry Pi OS with MATE Desktop
Why not overclock, push some more performance out of your computer!
