its been about a year since I last used open vpn on a Pi, but I believe you have to use the --config option to connect to your saved file.

Code: Select all

sudo openvpn --config austria.ovpn
Raspberry Pi Zero W: 2021 time lapse
Raspberry Pi Zero W: useless box in progress
Raspberry Pi 2B: Cellular environmental sensor
Raspberry Pi 3B: kodi
Raspberry Pi 3B+ : SmartMirror
Raspberry Pi 4 4G: idle
Raspberry Pi 400: develop and test

Since you're paying real green dollars for your PIA service. Ask at https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/helpdesk/ that's one of the things you're paying for.

As far as I can see on their not very clear website, their Linux client does not support Raspberry Pi OS, it has “64bit only” and “ Requires Ubuntu 18.04+, Mint 19+, Arch, Debian” but never mind…

You can download just the .ovpn and connect that way. you do NOT need the client.
Source; have used PIA.

Yes so he needs to ask the (paid for) support guys at PIA why it’s not connecting…
