need case to hide LED lights

Thu Oct 11, 2018 10:58 am

I use RP3 B+ for a Kodi Frontend via LibreELEC. Since it will be in a bedroom and be on all the time, I need a way to either turn off the LEDs or I need a case that will hide the LEDs from view. It needs to be an opaque and cover the LEDs from view out the back.

Any recommendations?

You could just cover the area with a bit of electrical tape. ;)

Two of the cases that I use don't show the LEDs, at least I haven't noticed them like I do with the official case.
(One is a Quattro, the other one I'm not sure, but it has a cut out raspberry on the top panel.)

Should be possible by adding below to config.txt

Code: Select all

# Disable the ACT LED.
dtparam=act_led_trigger=none
dtparam=act_led_activelow=off

# Disable the PWR LED.
dtparam=pwr_led_trigger=none
dtparam=pwr_led_activelow=off

Does the above answer mean one can hijack and re-use the ACT and PWR LEDs as general purpose LED indicators, under program control?

I applied the electric tape method..... but didn't know about this :D

I ordered a couple of black cases that might help and this code should fix the lights for good, except the LAN LED on the RJ45 connector. I'll test all of this when the new black cases come in.

As LAN LED is controlled by GPIO you shoukd be able to do similiar.
