The problem with the operating system file!

Thu Jul 19, 2018 9:55 am

Hi.

I download the file by the link: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/
But the archive is corrupted !!!
Same thing when downloading from Torent!

The hash sum does not converge!

The hash is calculated after you unzip.

Really?

Isn't the SHA256 published at https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/ based on the downloaded or torrented .zip?

I know it perfectly!

When I open the archive and press unpack, he writes that "The archive is corrupted"!
And in the unpacked image is absolutely another hash!

Seems to be (at least for the lite image). Testing on the file I downloaded yesterday

Code: Select all

[[email protected] Downloads]$ sha256sum 2018-06-27-raspbian-stretch-lite.zip
3271b244734286d99aeba8fa043b6634cad488d211583814a2018fc14fdca313 2018-06-27-raspbian-stretch-lite.zip
which matches what's on the website currently.

If you've downloaded the full image did you take note of the warning on the page ?
The Raspbian with Desktop image contained in the ZIP archive is over 4GB in size, which means that these archives use features which are not supported by older unzip tools on some platforms. If you find that the download appears to be corrupt or the file is not unzipping correctly, please try using 7Zip (Windows) or The Unarchiver (Macintosh).

Correct. The idea is to verify you downloaded what you think you downloaded, which is the .zip, not the .img.

For Interest, the unzip that comes as standard with the Pi (Raspbian) works fine (see the ZIP64 format support below):-
[email protected]:~ $ zip -v
.............
Zip special compilation options:
USE_EF_UT_TIME (store Universal Time)
BZIP2_SUPPORT (bzip2 library version 1.0.6, 6-Sept-2010)
bzip2 code and library copyright (c) Julian R Seward
(See the bzip2 license for terms of use)
SYMLINK_SUPPORT (symbolic links supported)
LARGE_FILE_SUPPORT (can read and write large files on file system)
ZIP64_SUPPORT (use Zip64 to store large files in archives)
UNICODE_SUPPORT (store and read UTF-8 Unicode paths)
STORE_UNIX_UIDs_GIDs (store UID/GID sizes/values using new extra field)
UIDGID_NOT_16BIT (old Unix 16-bit UID/GID extra field not used)
[encryption, version 2.91 of 05 Jan 2007] (modified for Zip 3)
as would any Linux in the last ten years.
The LFS (large file support) probably helps too.

Peazip on Windows also handles the >4GB zip file.

I only have WinRar.
I had to install what was unpacked .... the system was installed.
It seems nothing bad yet.

Redownload the image and try again - may have been corrupted during download.

WinRAR works perfectly for me with every Raspbian image I've tried to extract.

HOWEVER, extraction is not necessary if you use Etcher to write the image.

Etcher can write the image to your SD card or USB drive directly from the .zip archive.

https://etcher.io/

I highly recommend you use Etcher and just write from the .zip without extracting.
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?
