Pi Zero W Serial Port

Fri Mar 03, 2017 4:21 pm

Before I try it, if I want to use the full serial port device on the Pi Zero W, should I use the same overlay as on the Pi V3, i.e.:

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=pi3-disable-bt
or is there or will there be an overlay specific to the Zero W ?

Hi,

Did you get to any conclusion on this? It seems the pi3 overlay does not work!

All the best!

The problem is that I want to have both full serial and Bluetooth on the miniuart, with the pi3 I used dtoverlay=pi3-miniuart-bt, but if I use this with pi zero w I get the full serial on ttyAMA0 but hcitool can't detect any devices for bluetooth.

Have you also added "core_freq=250" to the '/boot/config.txt' file?

Without this additional step the mini-UART won't work with Bluetooth on the Pi 3b. I suspect this is also the case with the Pi Zero W. (I don't have one to test this on)

The details are in the '/boot/overlays/README' file.

Hope this helps,
Dave.

Hi, thanks for your reply!

I've done that yesterday (core_freq and serial1), but it didn't work, hcitool returns nothing!

All the best!

Hello,
did you find a resolution? I have the same issue.

My config.txt:

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=enc28j60,int_pin=25,speed=12000000
core_freq=250
dtoverlay=pi3-miniuart-bt
dtparam=audio=on
dtoverlay=midi-uart1
It works with the pi3 and not the pi zero w.

Thanks,
