""So as not so many people know these were discontinued due to (most likely) lack of popularity HOWEVER you can hack these to run archlinux, they have 800mhz(Marvel arm v5) cpu/128mb ram/ 10/10/1000 Ethernet Perfect for a dirt cheap cluster I currently have 4 and bought 3 more I have one that serves media to my tv, downloads movies, serves live tv via tvheadend and the rest are dedicated to a small cluster that is growing out of control due to the price drop lol I use the cluster for my cpu intensive tasks e.g transcoding media, bitcoin mining etc. I have even used the cluster to compile x86_x64 Linux kernels (proper toolchain req.) just an idea for the nerds out their buying these it would make a great compile cluster or hell just a high-end toy for dirt cheap :P 6x800mhz single cores does some damage but imagine 20? 30? lol every spare 10 buck I have ima throw at a pogoplug mobile""

It's very hard to make work on such "clusters". They need to communicate and that produces latency. Low processing power means that you would need a lot of them just to reach the computing power of a modern PC/laptop - and that only in software/tasks that can be easily paralleled / distributed among the cluster.

Still running my Marvell Plug from 2009 with ridiculous uptimes. Should probably upgrade from the dodgy old Ubuntu 9.04 that's on it, but it does its job well.

Floating point on these CPUs is terrible.

Those second-hand items might have been cheapish until you publicised them here. :(

Though the postage charges alone are the equal of the prices for new units on Amazon US.

I ran a pogoplug for a couple years with Arch on it as a media/backup server. Until the HDD tanked on it and I was to busy to bother fixing it.

Real life is, to most, a long second-best, a perpetual compromise between the ideal and the possible.

Maybe I'll just buy one from US amazon, and send it to my ammerican friend, and ask her to post it to me...
