Making an OS

Before I begin, I'd like to point out I didn't know anywhere else to put this, so I'm sorry if I put it in the wrong area, feel free to move it.

I've been looking for a few years now to see how to make a bootable OS. I will use anything I can other than SlackLinux or OpenSuse, I don't like them. If there's a tool to help me do this (Like a graphical tool,) I'll take a look, or even if I need to code it all, (which I'd prefer not to..) If anybody can help me, that'd be great. Thank you!

P.S. I'd like to be able to start by making it for my pi.

You're in luck! There's a series of articles that has begun in issue 15 of The MagPi, covering exactly this. I would imagine that that would be the best starting point. :D

The small amount of material that the MagPi can publish each month on any given topic means it's going to be a long time before they can adequately cover a complicated topic such as this. Fortunately, however, the same info and much more has been in the Bare Metal subforum at http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=72

There are 14 pages of just links to topics, so enjoy more info than you are likely to be able to digest for quite a long time!
