Re: Help name my brother's new kittens (kitten picture inside!)

We have had same litter puppies called Woof and Bark, so what about Mie and Oww?

I do believe that cats need some time to be named, they need a name that reflects thier character. One of ours started out with the small child chosen Jess (it looked like the spit of Postman Pats companion) but was renamed Benchley (as in Peter) as he had a habit of 'sensing the world' with his teeth.

They"d better be given names STAT! It"d be a real CATastrophe if they didn"t. Perhaps you should use the kitten name CATalogue. Have you given them their mittens and pie yet?

I agree about the importance of them being named quickly. After much begging and pleading from the wife and kidlets I agreed to get a cat a few years back. Mainly because the St Bernards seem to have absolutely no interest in killing the mice in our 19th century house (the squirrel population in the yard however has been decimated). After several weeks of it not getting a name I made the mistake of giving it a job, mousetrap. Years later we still refer to it by job title as in "has anybody fed the mousetrap lately?". Poor thing never did get a name. Or much attention from those who begged to get her. She is however an excellent rodent hunter and a great friend of the dogs to whom I believe she feeds the mice when she finishes playing with them as she still catches them but I no longer find carcasses.

I suggest "Grimalkin", a wonderful traditional name for a top-notch mouser:

Our cat is such a mouser,

Oh dear me.

She catches more than Towser,

Oh dear me.

She sneaks across the floor

You know,

And out the kitchen door

You know,

Grimalkin is her name.

The mouse comes out a creeping,

Oh dear me.

He thinks the cat is sleeping,

Oh dear me.

She's snoring surely but

You know,

That left eye isn't shut

You know,

She's watching just the same.

In our house at moment, we are being tolerated by 3 cats, who I'am sure look upon us as only being useful, when holding a can opener! They are Jill, Tom and Jerry. as for names for the little ones I would suggest Solder and Flux

Mazola and Crisp'n'Dry.
When one of them has clawed the settee, bought live mice back to play with or left other unpleasantries somewhere, you can blame it on the cooking fat!

I do apologise, I must have missed that one. Great minds think alike!?

We used to have 3 called Pusscat, Brian and Gretel, although my dad called the latter Wazzock, (or cooking fat!)

Also had a pet racoon called Ricky.
