Re: Congratulations, First batch from Farnell

Fri Mar 16, 2012 3:52 pm

I have received an email from Farnell with an updated delivery date of around mid-April and stating that:

"You are one of the first people in the world who will get their hands on a Raspberry Pi Model B. Congratulations..."

Has anyone else received an email from Farnell? Does this surely mean I am getting one from the first batch!!!

Fingers crossed!

That email was going out a week ago so it is debatable. Let us know if there are drops of solder all over your board when it arrives.

Yep, I got one too. A bit suprised if this really is the first batch (for me), since I didn"t place an order until around 9am on the phone (having failed to be able to do so online). I thought the first batch sold out within minutes after 6am ?

I"m not going to get too carried away till I get one in my hands !

I think a lot of the early orders may have been lost  in the web server issues, so later orders had a chance of getting in the first batch.

Hope you're wrong, we are going to get interminable "It isn't fair!!! I was there before him!!!!!" messages.

Suppose, to be realistic, we will get them anyway.

Luckily it'll be up the RS & Farnell to deal with as they were both completely responsible for taking order, out of the Foundation's hands.  But hey - moaners gonna moan...

Farnell sent me an email to, but as it was in the form of an image, I haven't been able to read what it says because they sent it in Thai.

Better than in Klingon.  Since you live in Thailand, it's actually sort of reasonable.

Any chance of transcribing it into Google Translate to understand it?  For most languages (not Chinese, Japanese or Arabic) that's usually feasible.
The key to knowledge is not to rely on people to teach you it.

That is exactly what I thought as this was the same for me it was around 9:00 and over the phone, it does make me wonder if the 'first batch' is actually not of the 10k but a lot more that are being manufactured as I type which would be fantastic! The more the merrier I say.

If they'd sent it as text, I could have translated it, but it's simply a jpg <img> in a table.

I think it lost something in translation

I ran an OCR app on the jpg and then pasted the output into Google translate
