I know there are people around with electronic R&D/Production experience. Perhaps I can pick your brains.

I want a crimp tool to attach the terminals that connect to the GPIO pins. Not the 26-way IDC, the individual pin sockets: for example http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/pcb-conne ... s/7194294/

Generally I solder them and then mash them around with a pair of pliars until they fit the housing, but I've got a project coming up that means I ought to at least try to do it right.

The recommended hand tool for crimping them costs £500. The not recommended tool costs £150. Maybe I can get away with the Molex-KK-capable tool, which must be similar, for "only" £30.

Would that work? Is there a better or even cheaper option?

I have something similar (with 16/10/6 dies) which works well on Anderson Powerpoles.
There are others with smaller dies.
All at around the £30 mark- probably less with research.
