when making my raspberry pi laptop I needed to step down the 12v rechargable battery to 5v. Because I have little experience with complicated electrics. I kindly asked my friend to solder me one. It all worked untill the component and heatsink fell off the voltage 'damper' so I set out with my huge, ungainly 180W soldering iron. This was a mistake as soon blobs of solder were crashing onto the delicate components. Thinking nothing of it I plugged in the supposed 5v supply but it turned out to be 12 volts. To cut a long story short my pi (With a medium overclock) had survived a sustained 12v shock. OOPS!

If there was a police division dedicated for Raspberry Pi I would be frog-marched away...
