... the movie.

I started watching this tonight because, well, just because I could.  Having worked my way though some good whiskey I ignored the Disney logos and...

... urgh, just urgh.  Terrible, I don't see how I'll be able to finish this and I'm only 20 min in!

Persevere with it.

Personally, I found it quite enjoyable, once it got going.

Just whatever you do, try not to think "Jeff from Coupling" when you see the Prince"s brother. Too late? Whoops!

Well, I'll stick it out then.  The first few scenes where they're obviously trying to copy actual gameplay (running, jumping on the rooves, puzzles to unlock the gates, etc.) seemed a little cheesy, but hey - it's a film made about an 80s platformer, so I should've expected it

Well, it has it's moments:

"That's it - no more fermented goats milk after the third race!"

I got into about 22 minutes of Lawnmower man 2, the other night, before switching off... I think that beats PoP hands down for 'crappness' and terrible acting.

I paid to watch Prince of Persia at the cinemas, the main actors accent was terrible. He kept swaping from Australian, Irish, American, English, Scottish, Welsh and New zealander (basically any form of the English language).

The ending was also terrible.
I was told in primary school never to end a story with "and it was all a dream". That is basically the ending and it was a crap one.
Have there been any good films based on games?

The resident evil film franchise is ok but can anyone name another?

That strongly depends on your definition of "good".

If said definition is more along the lines of "So bad, it's good", then the hilariously inaccurate Street Fighter: The Movie, starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia, is certainly worth mentioning.

The Telegraph has a list which you may or may not agree with:

The Telegraph list basically mentions different episodes of the same films several times, so is really quite a small list. No mention of Doom though.
