SDHC Partitioning

Fri Jan 18, 2013 4:17 pm

I recently acquired my RPi and used an 8GB SDHC (class 2) card as its hard drive. Well, I used Win32 Disk Manager to put Rasbian Wheezy onto the card. By doing so, it seems as though Win32 Disk Manager partitioned my card into three parts; nearly 1.8 GBs went to "healthy (primary partition)", 5.6 GB to "unallocated", and 56MB as another "healthy (primary partition)". When looking at how much space I have left whilst in Raspbian Wheezy, it says that I have roughly one fourt of a GB. Any ideas how I could have it tap into the unallocated partition? Also, why does it partition it in the first place? Thank you kindly. :)
