It would be nice
1. if a picture could be pasted from "the clipboard" into the text entry box.
2. if the forum software took care of scaling large images down to an appropriate size.
3. if the original poster was indicated in a thread.
4. to receive alerts for unread posts in subscribed threads, without having to receive email.
5. if quoting only quoted text original to the post you're quoting (not what it happened to quote).

I disagree with this one. I find it useful to have the context there. Granted, it would help if posters trimmed material they aren't replying to (though even there, one shouldn't trim contextual material).

The RPF is using 3rd party forum software. You probably should post your concern there instead: https://www.phpbb.com/

1. I think you can drag and drop a file but never tried that.
2.Would be nice but even so as it is the files have to be manually scaled so low that too much detail is lost to be useful. Much better to use a free image site and post links instead of trying to use the useless attachments tool.
3. The OP name and date/time of the OP is already shown in the topics list.
4. I find emails are quite handy as they contain a direct link to the thread. It is very easy to get to and find replies by clicking on [Your Posts] in the Quick links 'hamburger'.

I had to read that point a few times. I think it refers to multi-level quoting, like I have done here.

I see no problems with that. The quoting levels are restricted anyway, and there is nothing to stop a poster from trimming quotes down to those necessary to retain context.

What I don't like is when the complete content of the post is quoted just for a one line reply, or even worse, a link with no details of what it goes to. Scrolling past loads of quoted material just to see one line is a PITA.

Long quotes are just part of the design of the phpBB forum, here if someone posts while I type you have no context to what I'm replying to, as I have not quoted.
If I quoted, I would *not* edit as a mobile device makes it quite cumbersome.
(I may chop out a few bit as that's not too difficult sometimes, but the plain text formatting doesn't make it easy to see which quote is which once it goes multiquote)

Some forums allow you to highlight text, hit quote and it works it out for you with just that highlighted part. That would be useful.

One advantage this forum has is that it is very structured. It easy for follow a topic and what is where.

Super/sub script would be nice, but not important. Strike through will not happen has been around since forever.

I saw that you can drag files or use add files. What I wanted was the ability to do a partial screen grab and paste it into the text entry box. Now it's a multi-step process. Do a screen grab, save it as a file, drag the file to the text entry box, delete the file.

This is what I meant. On all subsequent posts in a thread, the person who started the thread is referred to as the Thread Starter (or Original Poster in other forums). That makes it easy to determine if you're responding to the OP's questions vs someone hijacking a thread.

Having posts numbered is also sometimes helpful when referring to content in earlier posts (e.g. as mentioned in post #x).

But seriously, what do you mean by multi-quote? Is is being able to quote from more than one previous post? If so, that is easy enough by scrolling through the posts, selecting the text and clicking the quote button above the post concerned.

This forum has its flaws, it's not very good for code, modern forum style setups let you select the language and syntax colouring making it easier to read. Compared to the small box we get to scroll around in on here.
But it's just usable, just enough to do a job.
Images are a pain.
Luckily video and flash cannot be used

It doesn't check my spelling or grammar or give a translator option.
You cannot give.tags.to posts.
It doesn't stop this Google keyboard on my phone sticking . between letters, or I need better thumbs?

It does however (mostly) just work.

It probably doesn't make life easy for the moderators either.

This extension is installed on another forum I used to frequent and is absolutely infuriating when browsing from a mobile device.

Super/sub script would be nice, but not important. Strike through will not happen has been around since forever.

Subscript is known to cause issues when used with smileys

Which browser doesn't give you the option to open in another tab?
Mobile (Android, chrome) I just long press on the link, the menu pops up and I select the option. It such a habit it the normal way of using links now.

I think Chrome and Edge have similar but on a right click on Windows too

The issue I'm talking about isn't the option to open in another tab, its the automatic opening in another tab.
Some browsers on mobile limit tabs to 16, and if one has "open new tabs in the background" turned on, opening a new link in the forum could easily take up all 16 tabs, losing whatever tabs you were viewing as they get replaced when you repeatedly click a link expecting it to open in the same tab, unaware its opening in a new tab.
