[FIXED] Ego Search / Own Posts failing

Sun May 19, 2019 10:07 pm

When I try and see what posts I've made I'm getting -

https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/sear ... =egosearch

"Information - Sorry, search could not be performed. More information about this failure has been logged in the error log".

Just wondering if it's just me and something which I need to chase up, or more widespread which will get fixed in due course.

Interesting as the search only report 4851 posts for you at https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/sear ... 9&sr=posts not the number shown next to your user name...

It happened to me earlier (and still does) so probably a "hiccup" that will get fixed ...

Well spotted. Everyone seems to be down by a few, some down a hundred or so.

Added: For me it seems to be posts made recently, such as this one. For those who have lost more I suspect there's more to it than that.

Twenty one posts show for me and mine are returning instantly...

Not the correct number but I’m not fussed as some threads I’ve added to have been killed

I couldn't find this thread (even using ddg) when I posted. Egosearch was useful for finding user questions I'd been helping¹ with.

That's just the forum having trouble. Sometimes the "Your posts" and even the "New posts" searches fail. Usually if you wait you will find it works again later. Or you can try going to your profile and click the "Search user’s posts" link there.
My mind is like a browser. 27 tabs are open, 9 aren't responding,
lots of pop-ups...and where is that annoying music coming from?

No, this is different. As jamesh said on the other thread:
OK, apparently a update to improve search perforrmace was recently installed, which is mostly working really well, except for this issue. It's being worked on right now.

This morning just now the whole forum failed for me,.I then ended up at https://my.raspberrypi.org and a place I never knew existed.
I guess this is new, I had an account and all my subscriptions.
But why did I end up there when the forum failed. (Edit/ it was a nice fail, listed my IP and other details, not the forum background, not much info for me to work with though)

Is this ongoing work of updates?

I'll keep this thread updated as and when I know what is happening.

I have found clicking on the "posts:" count link is currently the best way to find such threads.

My last post is two minutes to midnight - wonder if someone has moved an index update to daily to cut load?

Thought I had posted on this thread, but it was the other one. We are looking in to the issue which seems to have been caused by an update to the backend database search system , installed last weekend to improve database search speeds, which hve been the causes of slow downs in the past.

The web team hafe said they will let me know what they find, but not heard anything so presume that haven't been able to track the problem down yet.

Any update on when this might be fixed.

Jamesh you said in another thread you had emailed those concerned but I can't seem to find that thread now.

Edit.
The thread I mentioned. viewtopic.php?f=28&t=241096&p=1471102#p1471102

As soon as it's fixed?
I don't think an estimate can be placed on this.

Don't worry, we'll keep nudging them - it's the main search I use too.
