So plan for Pi4 is already set in stone. What's in it?

We also have a roadmap for the next 5 years. Which could change, but not the Pi4, that's pretty much set in stone.
"we'll get some set-top box soc from somewhere a year later isn't something would say it set in stone. this sounds more like RPF already have some plan for what soc to be used / or even a prototype board. something must been invested and developed to be ideas set in stone.
and I suspect it's already on market or soon will be unless it's costom made.
they also said it will need new memory and new processor node so at least ddr3 and 28nm?
1. make new chipset from broadcom as they made custom SBC just for RPF. Maybe based on BCM7439? it has 3.0, gigabit, ddr3/4 but it may be too new (dec 2016)
2. pick some arm chromebook chipset and ride on mainline Linux kernel / driver support google made. (This is why everyone else made RK3399 SBC) but it looks a bit too late on bus. it'd be another rockchip RK3399 SBC or newer Mediatek MT8173, but I doubt anyone use Mediatek for open source
3. Contect other chip makers and order themselves with kernel support invented? Will RPF have enough budget for it?

Welcome to the forum!

And a quick heads up - threads like this get locked really quickly because they degenerate extremely quickly and get very tedious as they are on the whole very repetitive. Suffice to say that the only people who know the answers to your questions are the RPF(T), and they are not going to say anything, so everything actually posted is guesswork.

The sandwich dispenser and unicorn bridle are proving somewhat difficult to integrate.

Joking aside, yes we have plans for a Pi4. Why wouldn't we? Moore's law is not yet exhausted and there are existing smaller process nodes, meaning there's scope for innovation and improvement at the same target price.
No, we're not going to disclose a release date.
No, we're not going to disclose what the feature set is.
No, this thread isn't going to remain open as with virtually every other future-Pi speculation thread.
