bitcoin mining with external gpu

Sun Jul 01, 2018 9:10 pm

I was wondering if there is some sort of dock that lets me use my old gpus (9500gt 730gt 1030gt) to mine bitcoin. I saw something about an os called minepeon that is built for mining.

So you want to couple PCI interface graphics cards designed for Intel/AMD PC architecture to an SBC comprising an ARM-based system-on-chip which does not expose its data buses even to the card, let alone the rest of the world... good luck with that.

I'm not saying it is impossible to simulate a PCI bus with some appropriate interface circuitry and bit bashing from the GPIO, but it would be exceedingly slow.

In any case, if this "minepeon" is intended to utilise PC GPUs, it will be x86 not ARM.

GPUs aren't much good for mining bitcoin now, even if you could connect them to a Pi.

Not just Intel/AMD, a lot of different computer architectures used PCI cards including some RISC based CPUs

In addition to the obvious problems that have been pointed out, I do love the typo in the thread title.
