And btw here is screenshot of my removed post for anyone to judge https://pasteboard.co/HGHz9sV.jpg I still had it in another browser tab when this happened.
EDIT:
I wonder if link to image with text that appears to be http url to blog post which links site which links microsoft download server is something that would be enough to remove this post (in off-topic section of this forum)? :-)

fanoush,

I saw you post before it was deleted. My apologies if I am wrong and perhaps I am over paranoid but I had some issues with it:

The main link in the blog post you linked to is to a server in Russia. Hardly sounds like a legitimate Microsoft property as you implied. Other links in the blog do link to MS servers but they are to anonymous OneDrive folders that could be anything from anybody using Microsoft's OneDrive storage.

In short there is nothing officially coming from MS there.
Basically my post linked blog which linked site which linked microsoft servers
No, it did not. See above.

Further. You state that "I see no copyright infringement there". Well unless you have agreed to some MS license, via a click through before download or such, then there is no permission granted by MS to download and and use their copyrighted material. Was there such a license?

Reposting images of deleted posts does not seem like a great idea. The post was no doubt deleted due to valid concerns, see above.

Microsoft Windows itself can be downloaded for free from Microsoft. It's the license you need to pay for, but you don't require one beforehand to download the OS.

For example

Stop plugging your fan directly into the GPIO 5v

True, but from the MS page you link to:

"To get started, you will first need to have a licence to install Windows 10. You can then download and run the media creation tool."

So, where are these people installing Win 10 on a Pi getting their licence from? I have seen no mention of that yet and the question is repeatedly ignored.

Providing one has a valid product key / digital license to input during or after install.

Actually winaero.com DNS points to US based hosting
https://whois.arin.net/rest/net/NET-159 ... 203.66.231
And it is a blog post of some random person. I did not imply he is related to Microsoft in any way. And the nationality is not relevant.

Oh, I didn't thought about this onedrive possibility indeed. Then you may really have a point. But when googling "what is tlu.dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com" it it more look like these are legitimate windows update servers.

You really say one cannot download any data over http from server without first agreeing to some license? Are you a lawyer?

And as for using it - either windows asks for product code and you have it or expires if it is not activated properly or this is some time limited trial (as insider builds are?). Please let Microsoft handle that. One should definitely not run windows 10 on Pi without license and break any laws related to that and nobody suggested this.

Enough.

Just FYI, posts got deleted in this thread because a) They were OS trolling or b) They linked to a possibly dodgy site.

NOT because any of the mods are anti-Windows - exactly the oppposite. I deleted posts that slagged off Windows, and I in fact officially warned a poster not to do it again.

EVERY SINGLE BLOODY TIME this subject comes up, some OS dick who thinks they know something always starts slagging off Windows. DONT DO IT. Next time you will be banned. I use Linux EVERYWHERE and yet I do not feel the need to go all MS hatey. If you do, please keep it to yourself, and I'd suggest getting a life.

Locking.
