Bye bye github, it was a gas.

I am in the process of putting all my repos into bitbucket and or gitlab.

My github repos will be replaced with something that will indicate why there is nothing there anymore.

Not that anyone will miss my humble efforts presented there. But some of it has been used by others.

Run it locally with Gitolite. http://gitolite.com/gitolite/index.html

Personally, I don't think Microsoft is the Evil Empire it once was (they've handed that baton to the Faceborg). They seem to be embracing open source software where it is entirely complimentary to their proprietary items.

If MSFT hadn't "bailed out" Github they'd have either had to fold or would have had to stop being free for everyone. My code is staying on Github and I'll be adding more in future.

I'm quite curious as to what MS will do with GitHub. On paper I think it makes sense.

Let's pray some jerk doesn't grab Atlassian, now they've opened the ball.

I'm happy to wait and see what they do. If they change it for the worse, bye bye github. If not, then business as usual.

Never liked bitbucket, and gitlab is pretty bad compared with Github (we use Gitlab internally, its a bit sucky).

Not sure what I think of the buyout. If you had open source on github, then everyone could see it anyway - not as if you are losing anything in that respect, MS could see it anyway.

Not sure that much of the new audience will have any use for anything from Microsoft !

It's an allusion to Azure. The days of Windows and Visual Studio are past and gone indeed.

Microsoft have been using Github for their open source components for a long time.

Ops, shows you how much I know. I never really got into the IoT stuff, or any of the Azure Visual Studio etc stuff. I just don't have those skills.
