First computer game I ever played was "STREK"; Star Trek on an ASR33 teletype.
It was rubbish. So thinking I could do better became a driving force for me, brought me to where I am now. Even when I did not succeed I learned a lot along the way.
That "I can do better than that" motivation has increasingly been lost as time has gone by. I believe a lot of people were driven by it in the heyday of "Home Computers". It is near impossible to imagine one could or would create a better game, search engine, social media platform, or OS these days.
Though maybe not lost entirely. I think it has more morphed into "I can create something better suited to what I want". And the Pi gives more people the opportunity to do that.
