Has anyone else played with that?

Arduino Create just sits in a reload loop for me. I think it's trying to load a plugin.

I had to disable sudo with a password. Their installer logs in with the userid/password you enter then does sudo things to install their codebase.

I got it to create an ARM executable, I didn't manage to get that executable doing anything useful (yet).

Loaded for me though I do think "For more information on how to get started with other Arduino boards visit this page." is more than a little misleading given that none of the boards in that section are made by arduino.

That's my problem, they're not giving any clues how you do things like wiggling GPIO pins. So at the moment I'm no further forward than

Code: Select all

void setup() {
  // put your setup code here, to run once:
}

void loop() {
  // put your main code here, to run repeatedly:
}
The three Arduino board that have "Arduino Cloud" support all have on-board WiFi. I don't have an Arduino like that.

But, onwards and upwards - it's a step in the right direction. I'm a massive fan of the support in the regular "Arduino/Processing" IDE that builds code for ESP8266 devices - that I'm using with Wemoses.

Err, I think you meant "Wiring/Arduino", there … :-)

I suspect installing this has invoked the annoying "wandering MAC address" feature. The 3b I installed it on used to have a super-stable MAC address, and it changed twice already today to 86:65:47:59:1E:38, then 22:1F:7B:59:DC:DC. There's nothing untoward in /boot/cmdline.txt or /boot/config.txt, nothing new in /etc/modprobe.d/, and no obvious VPNs running. Hmm …

I looked at this, but frankly I wouldn't download any code that doesn't even explain its objectives - the first 2 listed for the Pi are non events, as I can already do these; the third mentions "cloud" - a definite turnoff!

I don't really want the cloud to see how bad I code :oops:
And any good code I write I want to keep to myself, unless I'm showing off 8-)

What about those that have no Internet are they going to be second class coders?
I must be a grumpy old man but I like my IDE's on my PC where I have a little bit more control over them.
I did not like the Mbed stuff, Arduino online is going that way too.
Anything I must sign up an account for I worry about these day, Facebook etc...

Trust the Cloud? Write all my IoT stuff on Cloud tools?
Accept and hide cookies? Why what is being hidden?
If I write the next great ap code (er I'm not that good) on the cloud who owns it?
Next they will be telling me it must use Win10 IoT....
Perhaps paranoia comes with age too?

I have trouble installing the plugin. Apparently, the Linux plugin doesn't work for PI3. It's imposible to execute the installer.
