Just because it's in the dictionary, doesn't mean it's not offensive. i simpy don't like its use in that context.
That's a product of outsourcing everything to India. The whole phrase is "Please do the needful and revert to myself", which in my dialect of English means "Please do what's needed. If you have any problems refer them to me".
The word insane is used in many areas outside it's original meaning, its now very common parlance. http://www.yourdictionary.com/insane primary definition may surprise in that it is not referring to one with a mental illness.piglet wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2018 3:10 pmMy comment on the title was because members of my family have spent many years helping people with severe mental illness, and it's simply not helpful or appropriate to misuse the word.
I'm no "snowflake", but object to misuse of some words. People will always do it: in the 70's & 80's calling someone a "Joey" if they made a mistake, in the "naughties" where anything people didn't like was "gay", and emails I still receive to this day exhorting me to "please revert to myself".
Anyway, on topic... I use the quick links "New posts" and "Your posts". Hopefully there's something I can learn or help with.
That is extremely laudable. What term would suggest that people use in its place?
