Tue Apr 18, 2017 9:40 pm

For a upcoming project i want to build a 8Bit Computer from scratch, ive found most of the parts i need but im trying to find a Rare IC for cheap.....the 74ls189, ive already spent enough getting the rest of the parts i dont fancy spending another £25 for 4 of them, is there a equivalent/Plug in replacement for this chip?

I saw tthem at Anchor Electronics in Santa Clara California for $3.65 each.
You might want to consider using a larger, more current static RAM. Just
tie unused address inputs low.

They should be available for less than that if you are willing to wait, this claims 5 for less than $7: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-sh ... 75439.html

You really want to buy a 64-Bit Random Access Memory?!

I admire your tenacity for retro computing.

Do you have a circuit you are working to that you can link us to ?

After waiting months for the 74LS189 without any luck, I decided to use a 6116P integrated circuit instead. You can find the schematic over at http://blog.straypaper.com/2017/12/02/r ... ith-6116p/
