I saw her give a talk in the 1977 in Thames Poly. She had drums of cable marked millisecond microsecrosecond nanosecond - showing how far a sign could go in the times marked. When she got confused about the metre system, she looked at the cables. She said when talking to men, if you misspoke, they would eat you alive. When she wrote the langauge Cobal which is very wordy, she did 5 international variants. Doing internationalisation support in period when programs were still input with cards or punch tape.

Interesting. There is an interview with a very old Grace Hopper on YouTube where she is asked about the issues of women in technology and how she got along. She kind of shrugged it off as if it was never a problem for her and she never thought about it much.
