HEAT - P3 vs P2(Overclocked)

Hi All.

I currently have a Pi2 (standard clock) running retropie. When using Kodi(Jarvis), it is slow and my Pi's ACT led is going bonkers. I am putting it down to a lack of process power so am debating one of two things

1. Overclock my PI2
2. Buy a PI3

Despite getting the speed I may require, I am concerned about heat. I do have a heat sink and fan but just curious if any has looked into how much heat a standard Pi3 produces compared to an overclocked Pi2.

What part of Kodi is slow? Videos? Interface? What codecs are the videos in?

Not too sure about the codecs tbh but video playback is fine. Its interface really. Slow moving off items or going back up directories. Installing add-ons from zip and respositories is the worse though.

Sounds like a slow sdcard. You need an sdcard with good 4K random access read/write performance.
The NOOBS card is good. Samsung EVO/EVO+ is very good.

I am using the 8GB Sandisk Ultra that comes with pi starter packs. I have a Kingston sd card too, and its roughly the same speed.
