Hello,

I've added SD card size and drive number to the device dropdown list. Makes it easier to select the right device.
Drive numbers start at zero, the first HDD will be 0.
I am working on the short backup, will take some time.
I've changed the .exe name to PiWin32DiskImager to avoid confusion with the standard disk imager.

Regards

Thank you, I downloaded the zip file (unzipped it to my dropbox) and can now run your funky new version with the funky new features.

Hello,
rpDom
How about for NOOBS, because it only requires a smallish partition for the install, your program could
write a default blank formatted partition, then put the NOOBS files in it. The size could be fixed at
just big enough for the NOOBS files (allowing for future increases)? That would save having to use the
SD card formatter program.
This is just for TESTING!
I've modified the NOOBS write so it gives you a chance to create a small FAT32 partion (1.5GB) on the SD Card,
and then write the NOOBS files from the down-loaded zip file.

It won't work if 'control panel' and/or 'file explorer' are open, even if minimised (When it works OK, the program will check this).

For the moment the card nust be formatted FAT32 and have at least one file on it.
Just run as normal and select a NOOBS zip file and then the PiWrite button. Select 'Yes' and the card will be erased and
a 1.5GB FAT32 will be created, then 'Extract direct to SD card'. Wait for the format to finish (busy cursor).
Now try the card in the 'Pi' and follow the normal proceedure.
There will be a file on the Dropbox site called 'PiWinDiskImager99' from 24-8-2016.
Can somebody try this and see if it boots OK.
I don't have the facilities for testing at the moment.

If it works ok, I'll refine the whole program.

Regards

What am I doing wrong with the '99' version?
I downloaded the folder, unzipped and ran with admin privileges as per the other working version in the same folder.

Do you need any more details to get it working or things I can try?

It is windows 10 pro, both computer tested on with Anniversary Edition (AE) updates currently.

Hello bensimmo,
From my posting 23 Aug 2016

Did you do this?

If you've had 'control panel' and/or 'file explorer' open, close these and wait a few minutes for Windows to update itself and register this internally.
Note "This is just for TESTING!"
Does the error message give any clues? Perhaps if its not to long you can post the message or post it to a free site and give a link.

Different Problem Normal PiWin32DiskImager.exe now.

Finally have a new Jessie 2016-05-27 downloaded from the website. (pi website, latest zip file via bittorrent.) Not Noobs.

Unfortunately PiWin32DiskImager.exe can hash check etc, but when I hit Pi Write it crashes and Windows does its usual collect data... then tell you later if they find anything.
Looking in Event Viewer, all it really says is Faulting Module is QT5Core.dll

For the record this is Win 10 Pro 1607 (aka Anniversary Edition build 14393.105)

Hello bensimmo,
Finally have a new Jessie 2016-05-27 downloaded from the website
Set up to write Jessie, the SD card must be formatted FAT32 and empty.

Set up to write NOOBS with version '99', the SD card must be formatted FAT32 and have a file on it (This is just for testing to see if my approach works). When you have written NOOBS to the SD card see if it boots with the 'Pi'.

I have updated and added a file to the 'DROPBOX' site (down load again needed).
When you create a shortcut, run the shortcut as Administrator.

Thanks for this testing.

I'll test the new version (these are new Samsung Evo+ cards, 32GB so empty and fat formatted.
It'll probably be tommorow now.

Standard (non Pi, aka original) work fine writing Raspian to the card. I tested that just to make sure after all the errors.
