Temper Tantrum.

Sat Dec 19, 2015 8:38 pm

My 7 year old daughter learnt the name of the current distribution of the Raspbian OS today and she wasn't impressed.

She doesn't see why her little sister gets her name on the download files and why it can't be named after her instead!

(yes, the 5yr old is called Jessie).

Kids make you laugh, the things they say and come out with.

Art Linkletter made a partial career out of collecting them.

IF you've ever dealt with small children, you attitude towards kidnapping may change...

Heinlein, Beyond this Horizon (1942) The Bunghole Theory
(I can't find the actual quote at the moment, haven't read it for a few years, so I may have the details wrong. This is someone else's version of the quote I found on Google)
"I have long suspected that the male of our species, in most cases, should be raised in a barrel and fed through the bung-hole. Then, at age eighteen, a solemn decision can be made: whether to take him out of the barrel, or to drive in the bung."

You could build a fake download page with a download renamed to her name, and make her happy.
Perhaps you could also build a Raspbian version aptly code-named and install it for her.

Here's a quote from a pdf file that I have:
"I've always favored the bunghole theory myself."
"The what?"
"You take the child at an early age and place it in a barrel. You feed it through the bunghole. At the age
of seventeen, you drive in the bung."
The most important leg of a three legged stool is the one that's missing.
It's called thinking. Why don't you try it sometime?

Or, as my friend said to me when my son was born:

"All mothers think their babies are beautiful, that's the only reason they don't throw them out the window."

Just to save me having to re-read the whole book out of sequence (I'm at Greg Bear, Eon, at the moment - Heinlein is 1000 books down the line) what page of the PDF is it on?
