There is no Imager version suitable for older Macs.

If your ancient Mac can write to a FAT32 formatted 16GB SDCard and has the software to unpack a ZIP file then your best bet to get started with your Raspberry Pi would be to use PINN.

Give what the MacOS is built on, it should be possible to follow the instructions for manually writing an image to an SD card from a Pi and use dd.

yo-yo,

What are you trying to do?

If you only need to write a downloaded image of PiOS to an SD card you can use the "dd" command in a terminal on MacOS. See tutorial here: https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/how-to-cr ... d-command/ No other software required.

Be careful not to "dd" all over you Macs root file system.

Is it a x86-32 or x86-64 MacOS ??

Regardless what architecture it is, the .dmg will not open because it uses the newer LZFSE compression algorithm, introduced in Mac OS X 10.11, 6 years ago.
But even if the .dmg would open, the application would only print a message that you need a more recent Mac OS X, as the libraries used do not support older OS X either.
10.13 is minimum.

(And if you were to compile it manually against older libraries that do support older Mac OS X releases, chances are Imager wouldn't be able to connect to the Raspberry Pi webserver through https, as the older libraries may not support the TLS flavor and cryptographic algorithms used today.
So adding support for older Macs has all kinds of interesting and practical issues...).
