Airtame firmware for the RPi

I've heard that Airtame will release a firmware for the Raspberry Pi on March. This will transform the Pi to a wireless HDMI client. This sounds very Exciting because I heard that the technoogy they are using is far more andvanced than Airplay, Chromecast, Miracast and others.

I'm looking forward to that. Can anybody expand on that?
Will this be featured on the site's official download page?

Attila from AIRTAME here :)
We are very excited to release a client for the Raspberry. We've been using it for a while for testing and been very satisfied with it.

I've also been playing around with getting the RPi camera and stream that back to PCs, which should be great for a number of applications. I think I'll use it for my robots :D

Hi Attila,

Congratulations on your success, more than 1million $ and still going.
Keep us posted if you could spare the time.
My request is that your software will be available for download on the raspberrypi.org official download page.

Hi Roulash,

Thank you :-)

About your wish to put AIRTAME on the official raspberry pi site, there is not much we (airtame) can do about that. If the raspberry pi foundation would like to put it there, then we would of course be more than happy to provide a link to our download site, or setup a mirror.

I really hope that the firmware for the PI will be released on March, and hopefully the desktop software will also be available by then.

So just to be clear, the RPi Firmware will turn the RPi in to a basic Airtame ? Meaning we will be able to use our RPis as a remote screen.

Yes. They even used the PI at development, so there is a good chance that the firmware for the PI will be released first, according to Airtame maybe around March.

If i understand the term "client" correctly the airtame hdmi dongle cannot be used to link a second screen wirelessly to the raspberry and have a mirror of the primary screen? I'm really looking for this solution, it would be awesome if this is possbile with airtame

Airtame supports linux, so it is possible with another raspberry pi or an airtame dongle. The problem is, like any other solution for wireless transcoding, that the CPU of the pi is to weak to transcode 1080p data or even much less for the second screen

I read on Facebook that the firmware for raspberry pi should be released around "March'ish".
Does anyone know if they still plan to release the firmware, and when will they do that? Will it be a beta version?
What about the desktop client? When will the desktop software be released?

Status updates on the AIRTAME facebook page now indicate that the firmware for the raspberry pi will be released when the product ships, which won't be until the end of 2014.

Software is still in private beta stage. Airtame team told me that the Raspberry Pi firmware will be available at the time their product officially ships out.

Is there anyway to sign up for the private beta ?

Private beta is only for the ones who bought the beta device. We'll need to wait a month or two for official release.

I've now received my Airtame dongle and can stream from my PC to my Airtame/TV.
I can also view images stored on my android phone on my Airtame/TV.
What I would like to be able to do next is to stream my RPi to my Airtame/TV. I reckon this will need an Airtame app to run on RPi so its not likely to require the firmware that this thread alludes to.
The aim is to straem my RPi camera on a robot to my Airtame/TV.
There is now a Linux(64 bit) app. but i've no idea whetehr this will run on the RPi ?
Any news Atilla ?

CPU of the PI is not strong enough for that.

they are having difficulties developing the firmware for their own product, many features they promised have not been developed yet, I will not be surprised if if they abandoned the idea of developing a firmware for the Raspberry Pi.

I tought that they are developing this on the RPi so there is some kind of firmware they already have since units did ship.

Performance does not seem to be anything special. They don't even have an option to extend the display, just to mirror it.
I don't understand how they can sell this thing for 200$ when you can purchase a product like Microsoft Wireless Display for 40$ on eBay.
