ArmedSlack 13.37

Sat May 19, 2012 7:43 am

The rootfs is about ~ 1.2 GB.

- It boots incredibly quick (thanks to the latest firmware)
- Rock solid
- Default window manager is Xfce4 but Fluxbox is also included
- Xfce has a greater load time than Lxde but once started it`s as fast as Lxde.. maybe faster
- Mozilla Firefox 3.6.28 is the default browser. It needs a few seconds to load but once started it loads and renders pages faster than Midori.
- SSH is enabled by default
- It uses the 192 MB start.elf
- User "root" password "raspberry"
- Based on ArmedSlack 13.37 + latest patches
- slackpkg tool included

http://ns1.spit-ct.ro/raspberrypi/

I`ll need some mirrors, please help out :)

MySql works, I didn`t tested multimedia capabilities.

I`ll test that. Slackware has xine, xmms and audacious packages for multimedia playback.

To install them use slackpkg install xine* xmms audacious*

Remember to load the audio module first.

P.S. I forgot Mplayer

When you uncompress the archive you have the sha1sum of the .img. md5 is almost deprecated.

See if the Pi got its lease from the dhcp server.

What is the output of /sbin/ifconfig ?

If you refer to the message that appears when you startx is because it can`t resolve "slackware" hotname. Eighter change your hostname so that the dns server can resolve it or define in /etc/hosts slackware to your ip.

I`d like to mention that the ArmedSlack`s firmware version is 32e0f0ed3f, added 2 days ago.

This firmware is supposed to fix more mmc0 timeouts from different cards.

More info http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... f=2&t=6093

This firmware made my Sandisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC 8 GB class 6 usable with Pi.

Please check logs and see why dhcp doesn`t work for you.

I don`t have any problem using dhcp. Use "netconfig" to run the network configuration script again.

To change your window manager to fluxbox for the whole system delete /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc and symlink whatever xinitrc.* you have there to xinitrc

example: ln -s /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.fluxbox /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc

OR

The simple way ! :)

slackpkg install x11-skel
pkgtool => setup => xwmconfig

Remember, run pkgtool to configure your system after the first boot.

Ok ,

I forgot to delete my mac address from udev rules

Delete from /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules everything and after you reboot you should have eth0 up.

Thanks for reporting this, I totally forgot to clean this rule before packaging the image.

We`ll call the present slackware image a release candidate.

Please report any bugs.

I don`t recommend loading the sound module. It`s very very very buggy. I played an mp3 file and it hurt my ears. :)

to load the sound module : /sbin/modprobe snd-bcm2835

also you need alsa: slackpkg install alsa*

There will be another version the following days to correct some minor problems. Also I want to include Midori in the next release. I already started to build some dependencies for it. Now I remember the good old days when I was recompiling the kernel in screen overnight on Pentium MMX 166 MHz :).
