Installing Themes on Ubuntu MATE (Why Can't I?)

Hi All,

I installed the OneStepBack theme from mate-look.org in ~/.themes, but when I Preferences > Look and Feel > Appearance, it doesn't show up under the Theme tab. The theme is GTK 2.0 and 3.0 compatible, so what am I doing wrong? I did try another theme, but it showed up as a black icon with a white '?'. I placed a dummy folder in ~/.themes, and that showed up in the Theme tab, so what am I not getting?
