Tue Mar 21, 2017 12:55 pm

If you have tried to update Ubuntu-mate 16.04.2 and get an error saying you need more space in the /boot partition, I have a work around video:

@fruitoftheloom - How would expanding the root file system help with a boot partition being too small?

@RayConcordNH - You should fix the link you posted to be the public URL for viewing the video. You posted a link used for editing the video post you made.

Video works at: https://youtu.be/oYAnmjT8P-E (I didn't bother watching it - because I have better things to do for 19 mins.)

If you watch the video you will see that the file system was already expanded, Ubuntu-mate does this automatically. I copy the contents of the PI_BOOT partition to a file on another drive. I then delete the PI_BOOT partition, shrink the PI_ROOT partition, and create a new larger PI_BOOT partition. I then copy the files back into the PI_BOOT partition. I walk through this completely assuming a newbie who has never used gparted. Use what you like and leave the rest.

Thanks DougieLawson for posting the correct link for the video, my mistake. I have corrected the link on the initial posting.

The video is a good example but not with a windows software so, just for information, i proceed the partition resize on windows 10 by using the software Partition Guru, it can't be possible with EaseUS Partition.

Please start a new thread rather than hijacking this one. Although the answer is almost certainly yes.

But I'd use Raspbian anyway.
