FullPageOS - RaspberryPi distro that displays a webpage

Mon Oct 19, 2015 10:29 am

Hey all,
I have just released a RaspberryPi distro that all it does is let you set a URL in a text file on the /boot folder, boot and you get that url displayed on a full screen, excellent for dashboards on big screens!

Source code is based off OctoPi, and we have a mirror to download the image.
Would love to hear your input and have people playing with the code!

From your blog:
Also I was looking for a way to start the RaspberryPi with a browser on full screen for a stats screen at work, and apparently the only thing available is complex guides that only partly work on today’s RaspberryPi.
Excuse me, please, but this is nonsense. A lot of users of my MInimal Kiosk Browser are running such installations in universities, schools or shops (just examples).
Automatically starting such applications after booting is a little bit different on Jessie now (but will be easier again when the late network bug has been fixed). But auto-login is even easier now.
Exactly 5 lines of text are needed to boot into a kiosk application with kweb(3). No "complex guide" needed.
Minimal Kiosk Browser (kweb)
Slim, fast webkit browser with support for audio+video+playlists+youtube+pdf+download
Optional fullscreen kiosk mode and command interface for embedded applications
Includes omxplayerGUI, an X front end for omxplayer

Hi @guysoft

UPDATE: I just noticed this:

:)

Could you please describe where this project is at now? Is it still alive? The last release on GitHub was around 7 months ago.

Since then, hasn't the Raspberry Pi Foundation released some optimizations for Chromium? They could be handy to try.

Also, I suspect the project documentation could be expanded and maybe clearer. For example, the SSH credentials don't seem to be documented anywhere I can see.

Thanks for the work to date, it's a very interesting project.
