Mesa/OpenGL driver updating

Sat Sep 22, 2018 6:54 am

Hi Sakaki,

Noticed there is a new release ofMesa3D
https://www.mesa3d.org/relnotes/18.2.1.html
Eric has some v3d bug fixes.
How do I keep the VC4 OpenGL driver up to date?

I can compile the Mesa examples etc fine but no clue on how to make a new driver.

Hi Gavinmc42,

the latest mesa version in the Gentoo tree at the time of writing is 18.2.0-r1, which is what you should have on your RPi3 also, if the weekly genup is running correctly. You can check with "eix media-libs/mesa". 18.2.1 will no doubt make it into the tree shortly.

Alternatively, to update mesa to the latest version in the Gentoo tree manually:

Code: Select all

pi64 ~ # emaint sync --auto
pi64 ~ # emerge --ask --verbose --update --oneshot media-libs/mesa
Since it's just a minor version bump from 18.2.0 to 18.2.1, if you were feeling adventurous you could make your own overlay, copy the media-libs/mesa directory into it from /usr/portage, rename the mesa-18.2.0-r1.ebuild therein to mesa-18.2.1.ebuild (and delete all other ebuilds in that directory), recreate the manifest, and try emerging it. It'd probably work. Or just wait a week or so till a Gentoo dev does it for you ^-^

Best sakaki

PS release 1.3.0 of the gentoo-on-rpi3-64bit image in final stages of testing now. Hoping to release in a week or so.
