Hi,
i build a gentoo out of the box solution for rpi2, use the benefits of gentoo .
i dont have options to test this raw disk image working for other users, pls give some feedback if you are interested in ...
what works, what not ... and things you want to have on a newer release

Good for users that don't want waste time by building linux ... including everything you need to get started

Image

you can download it from
https://www.linuxweb.net/dwnld_image.php

it's german! Userlogin same like in raspbian ...

some informations here: http://raspberry.linuxweb.net/?id=rpi2compatibilitylist

you can add packages that are available in portage ... feel free!

Greetings
Shorty

wlan is in! any module that is available in kernel 4.4.18 should be working but must be loaded, the Vilros WLAN-Adapter is set up by default.
Use /etc/conf.d/modules and add it in right order, try pluggin it in..

lsusb:

Code: Select all

Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0bda:8176 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188CUS 802.11n WLAN Adapter
What Wlan Adapter are you using? I can add it in the next release ...

It would be nice if some other user can tell me about what adapters they are using!
i want to have an overview ...

Have a nice day !

sorry, server crashed, try http://linuxweb.net:8080/dwnld_image.php instead

perhaps somebody is able here to provide this file elsewhere, i'd like to get the count of the downloaded file in certain intervals

an update is neccessary, it's outdated - but you can do it by yourself too ...

mmcblk0p3 error, can not boot so no resize-card.
and, can not open inbox message you send.

btw, is it possible to setup wireless (no wired) form stage3?

i am currently working on a new release, with fixed filesystem and partition:

for those who using the old image this should help:

you should use gparted or parted!

new on next image:
display link, dual monitors, newer kernel.

Hey,

a new image is online, but i couldn't test it by myself yet because i'm busy with other work and i done this by remote.
it's about ~3 gb. the partition table is fixed but i can't move the main partition to other blocks, so there may be problems @ boot again when using a 8gb card. So 16 gb is recommended to be safe.

When anybody is going to test it and let me know if the image and booting is OK . Then i can go further make it done.
Image

checksum: 4075a1514561cb9e56590b4340aad540

Code: Select all

gunzip -c gentoo.img.gz | dd of=/dev/sdX
 # X is your disk
there are several issues but not kind of high priority ... i must switch to another clock system (clock skew warnings / swclock or turn time to future, runlevel script as 1st)
openrc-run coming soon ..

Greetings + success
